1. What was their favorite childhood activity?
2. Did they have a nickname as a child? Did any of their family members have nicknames?
3. Did they have any exciting experiences camping or hunting that you know of.
4. Recall and write about a special party that they had given or been to that you know of.
5. Do you know of any special feelings they had as a child regarding fears, fantasies, etc?
"When Mom was growing up she told me that she had the name Erna Penny, maybe it was Penny and I didn't understand why. Then Mom told me Earn a Penny. So I am not sure which it was. When Mom and Dad started going together Uncle Chet called Daddy "Hold Him Away Closer". As far as nicknames for their family members I don't recall hearing any.
I remember hearing Mom talk about going places with her family and when they went they sang while going where they were going. I think that is probably one of the reasons that Mom loved music so much and one of the reasons that Mom instilled a love of music in us.
I remember that Daddy went hunting on occasion and that he came home with a deer. I remember having it hang to cool in the barn. (But as far as anything else the boys would have to share that information.)
I remember going up to Heber for their 50th Wedding anniversary as a family. We stayed at the Chalet. It was a fun time. We had a wedding cake for Mom and Dad. As we got ready to leave it was so cold that some of the cars had to be jump started to get them going. Dave had to have his car towed because he couldn't get it started. They loved to have the family get together. That was one of the things that made life great for them."
